Gemstones in Vedic tradition are not ornaments — they are planetary instruments.

Never wear a gemstone for a planet that is a functional malefic in your chart. A ruby for a weak Sun is beneficial; a blue sapphire for an afflicted Saturn can trigger hardship.

Always test a gemstone for 3–7 days before permanent setting. Wear it on the correct finger, on the right day and muhurta, after proper energisation.

Natural, untreated stones of correct weight (typically 1/12 of body weight in ratti) give the best results.
